Russian Premier Vladimir Putin will discuss issues of developing oil
fields in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea in Astrakhan on April
28, RIA Novosti reports, citing the press-service of Russian
government.
Putin will also visit the Korchagin stationary platform. The Caspian
Sea oil-field is developed by Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft - an affiliated
subsidiary of Lukoil.
Oil deposits are estimated at 28.8 million tons of and gas reserves at
63.3 billion cubic meters. The maximum level of extraction per year
will be 2.5 million tons of oil and 1 billion cubic meters of gas.
Extracted oil will go through a 58 km underwater pipeline, with a
diameter of 300mm, to a naval re-loading complex, which includes a
floating oil-storage facility.
The further transportation of oil will be carried out by tankers with
a deadweight of 6-12 thousand tons.
