Georgia, Azerbaijan and Romania signed an agreement on Wednesday on the establishment of a joint venture (JV) on the project of a new Azerbaijani gas-delivery route to Europe, reports Trend. Tbilisi hosted a ministerial meeting on the implementation of the Georgian-Azerbaijani-Romanian gas-delivery project of Azerbaijani liquefied natural gas to Europe on May 12th. The meeting was attended by Azerbaijani energy minister Natig Aliyev, his Georgian counterpart Alexander Khetaguri and Romanian Minister for Economy, Trade and Business Adrean Vidianu.
"This enterprise will attract investment for the project's implementation," - Khetaguri said. The new JV will be established in 30 days.
The project provides for delivery of natural gas from Azerbaijan to Georgia to the Black Sea coast, where a factory for processing natural gas into liquefied natural gas will be built. The gas will then be transported to Romania by sea.
Khetaguri added that all the transit routes that pass through Georgian territory are important for its economy. "These are economic benefits and the increase of our energy security," he said.
Romania, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of transportation of liquefied gas in Bucharest on April 13th.
