Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili officially opened an overhead
road at the Square of Heroes today. According to Saakashvili, the
overhead road will be complete at the end of the year and will improve
the city's traffic, Trend reports.
Together with Tbilisi mayor Gigi Ugulava the president travelled along
the road using Formula-3 cars. Saakashvili was satisfied with the
standard of the road and gave credit to the builders.
The overhead road is part of the new capital’s motor vehicle network
aimed at improving traffic-flow on the Vake-Saburtalinskaya road.
Construction started at the end of June last year.
The project entails the building of five bridges over the River Vere.
There will also be 3 overhead passes built.
30.8 million lari were invested into the project this year.
Construction will be complete at the end of 2010.
