The restoration of direct flights with Russia is important for the Georgian economy, the ex-speaker of the Georgian parliament, leader of the Democratic Movement-United Georgia opposition party Nino Burjanadze said.
"For my part, I am doing my best, talking with people in Russia, in Moscow, to convince them that this step should be done," the politician said.
In addition, Burjanadze evaluated the statement of the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, who recently praised the meeting of the Russian and Georgian Foreign Ministers David Zalkaliani and Sergey Lavrov. "I also positively assess the fact that finally, after 7 years in power, the Georgian Dream [ruling party] took this step. Though this step should be more bold, thought-out and pragmatic," TASS quotes Burjanadze as saying.
