Former members of Barayev's gang arrested in Grozny

The law enforcement services of Chechnya have arrested two former members of the gang headed by Arbi Barayev, Yuga.ru reports.

On January 13, a 48 year old man was arrested in his house. He confessed that from October to December of 1996 he was a member of the gang headed by Barayev. He was set free as in this period there were no military actions in the territory of Chechnya. Investigation continues.

On January 18 in the Chernorechje village, police arrested a man who was a member of the gang from May to December 1998.

Barayev is notorious for kidnapping operations in the period between the two Chechen military campaigns.
