Kuban athletes ask governor to preserve Olympic Council

Sportsmen and women and coaches in Russia's Krasnodar Territory
requested Governor Alexander Tkachyov to preserve the Olympic Council
in Kuban, Yuga.ru reports.

The council was established in 2001. Tkachyov has been its president since 2006.
In their message the sportsmen complain about poor financing of the
program for support of non-commercial organizations, which led to the
cancellation of traditional matches for the memory of Kuban sportsmen
and coaches. A book called 'Sports Gold of Kuban' was not published
for the 10th anniversary of the Olympic Council. Candidates for the
National Olympic Team and their coaches do not receive help.

The message says that such Olympic organizations are supported in 45
Russian regions, while the one in Kuban lost support in July 2010. The
Winter Olympic Games will be held in Krasnodar Territory. The
sportsmen expressed misunderstanding the attitude towards the council,
especially with the coming of the 100th anniversary of the Russian
Olympic Committee.

The document was signed by the coach of the Russian young national
team for handball, MSIG Pyankov, coach of the national team for rowing
Shepetilnikov, Sambo champion Khaybulayev, world and European champion
in acrobatics Garbuzov, European champion in acrobatics Motrenko,
world and European champion in rhythmic gymnastics Yakovenko, European
champion in weightlifting Kuznetsov, trampoline tumbling world
champion Bogachyov, Olympic silver medal holder in swimming Rusanova,
world champion in trampoline tumbling Yanes, USSR champion in
acrobatics Ananevich, prize winner of the European champion in
