President of Argentina visits Turkey

Turkey and Argentina have signed an agreement to open a direct air
connection during the first visit to Ankara of the head of the
Argentine State in the last 20 years, RIA Novosti reports.

The Turkish media believes that the visit of the Argentinian President
to Ankara will help overcome tensions in bilateral relations, caused
by the fact that Argentina is one of the countries that have
recognized the genocide of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire in 1915.
Turkey has traditionally denied the extermination of 1.5 million
Armenians during the First World War and is extremely sensitive to
criticism from the international community on this issue.
