The head of Kabardino-Balkaria, Arsen Kanokov, believes that force is
not enough in the fight against terrorism. He urged elders and
institutions of civil society to aid them in the fight, Yuga.ru
reports.
Kanokov expressed his view at a meeting with inhabitants of the
village of Islamey in Baksan District.
The villagers of Islamey expressed their view on the terrorism
problem. They said that people should express criticism of terrorists
in public. This will prevent young people from joining the extremists.
Children should know that terrorism contradicts Islam and national
traditions.
Kanokov proposed establishing a working group consisting of the most
authoritative villagers to work on the issue.
A businessman and an inspector from the police station of Baksan have
recently been killed in Islamey. The businessman was working with
cattle skins.
