Azerbaijani parliament to establish language commission

Azerbaijani deputy Sabir Rustamhanly  proposed that parliament
establish a special commission for languages to improve literacy in
law-making, Trend reports.

Rustamhanly said that citizens are indifferent to the problem. The law
on state language is violated every day.

Expert Alovsat Aliyev made a report, informing that the amendments
introduced to the Azerbaijani Constitution in 1956 made Azerbaijani
the state language. He proposed the day to become the Day of
Azerbaijani Language.

Aliyev said that Azerbaijani communities living abroad should have the
right for being taught Azerbaijani language for free, according to the
law. Such a practice exists in all neighbouring countries, he noted.
