Iran complete large-scale Persian Gulf military drills

Iran's Revolutionary Guards have ended a large-scale military exercise
in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, RIA Novosti reports,
citing the Fars news agency
In the final stage of the Great Prophet 5 exercise, the Islamic
Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) launched five indigenous cruise missiles
that hit a single target simultaneously.
The missiles were fired from five different locations at sea and on
land, IRGC commander Ali Fadavi said.
The exercise also saw a mock operation to repel an "enemy force."
The Great Prophet 5 three-day exercise was launched on Thursday as the
elite force marked the 31st anniversary of its establishment by
revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1979.
IRGC deputy commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami said on
Wednesday the drills were designed to "ensure security in the Persian
Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman."
The exercises come as tension mounts over Iran's nuclear program.
