Iran has become the chairman of the Group of 77 for this year. Algiers
was the previous chairman, FARS cites the Iranian representative to
the International Atomic Energy Agency, Ali Asker Soltaniye.
The Group of 77 was founded in 1964. It consists of developing
countries, based in Vienna, that are members of international
organizations, such as the IAEA, the UN commission for fighting
organized crime and narcotics, the United Nations Industrial
Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Comprehensive Nuclear
Test-Ban-Treaty. This includes 130 countries.
