EU troubled by halt in negotiations between Turkey and Armenia

 

Catherine Ashton, the head EU representative for international affairs

and security policy, has expressed her anxiety about the pause in the
process of ratifying the protocols on normalization of relations
between Armenia and Turkey.

The president of Armenia has signed an edict on stopping the
ratification. But he said that Armenia's signature remained on the
documents and the problems would continue to be discussed.

"The European Union calls on both sides to continue dialogue and to
stand by by the process of normalization of relations without any

preliminary conditions and in a reasonable time period", Ashton said,
