Unemployment in Stavropol Territory reduced to 20%

Specialists say that unemployment in Stavropol Territory dropped by 20% in 2010.
The department for state information policy of the government of
Stavropol Territory said that the residents of 452 houses in 17 cities
and villages were questioned. The data gathered was processed using
the methods of the International Labour Organization (ILO).


The results show that the number of people aged from 15 to 72
increased by 17,000, compared with 2009, reaching 1.363 million. The
number rose mainly in country areas. The city indicators increased by
5,200.


93.1% of economically active citizens of Stavropol Territory are
working in economic sphere. The average age of the employed population
is 39. 28.4% have higher education, compared with 25.3% in 2009, 24.7%
in 2008. The number of people with special high education increased
from 24.5% in 2009 to 25.9% in 2010.


The unemployment rate dropped. 117,400 people were unemployed in 2009,
compared with 93,600 in late 2010. The unemployment rate dropped by
23,800, or 20%. This is one of the lowest indicators, comparable with
Krasnodar Territory, Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts.
Rostov Region has 7.8% unemployed, Astrakhan Region - 8.3%,
Kabardino-Balkaria - 12.7%, Chechnya - 43.1%.
