Russia begins to test national missile defense

Russia has started to manufacture prototypes of an advanced national
missile defense (NMD), which are already being partially tested at the
Sary-Shagan test site in Kazakhstan, the commander of the Space Forces
of the Russian Federation, Oleg Ostapenko, announced today, RIA
Novosti reports.

However, he noted that the development of a missile defense system is
being conducted according to a plan.

Ostapenko added that the authorities are still working on the
extension of tenure of a missile defense system.
