Matthew Bryza takes oath and heads to Azerbaijan

The new US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Matthew Bryza, took the oath in
Washington, in the presence of Azerbaijani Ambassador to the USA
Yashar Aliyev, Trend cites the press-secretary of the US diplomatic
mission Kis Bin.


Bryza was appointed by the US President Barack Obama ahead of the next
Senate session in December 2011. The White House put the candidature
of Bryza for voting at the Senate.


If approved, Bryza will head the US diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan
for three years.


The new ambassador is expected to arrive in Azerbaijan in early February.
There has been no US ambassador in Azerbaijan since Ann Dersy
concluded her terms of office in July 2009.
