Iran's parliament has passed a vote of confidence in Ali Akbar Salehi, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's candidate for the office of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Iranian news agency Press TV reports.
Out of 243 members of Parliament who attended the session, a total of 241 deputies cast their votes. Salehi received a vote of confidence from 146 Iranian lawmakers, while 60 voted against him and 35 abstained.
In a speech prior to the vote Salehi promised to further enhance ties between Iran and the international community based on mutual justice.
