Strasbourg starts hearings on Georgian lawsuit against Russia

The European Court of Human Rights has started hearings on the
Georgian lawsuit against Russia, Georgia Online reports.


The case is related to the deportation of Georgian citizens from
Russia in autumn 2006.


Georgia introduced the case to the Strasbourg Court on March 26, 2007.
The hearings will last a week. A former member of the monitoring
committee of the Council of Europe Matias Jorsh, who compiled a report
on the issue, and the Georgian human rights activist Georgy Tugushi
will take part.
