Audronius Azubalis, Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE and Minister of
Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, praised the decision of Kazakh President
Nursultan Nazarbayev to avoid a referendum on the extension of
presidential terms. The decision was made on Monday, when the
Constitutional Court called the referendum non-constructive.
Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev and Azubalis had a
telephone conversation where the OSCE chair underlined the president's
proposal to hold early elections.
