Concluding document at the summit of religious leaders in Baku

Participants in the summit of world religious leaders in Baku have called on traditional religions to resist ideas of extremism and terrorism, it is stated in the summit's concluding document. This was revealed to journalists by the co-chairman of the executive committee
of the Interreligious Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Vsevolod Chaplin, reports Trend.

Particular attention was paid at the summit to the theme of abuse of religion for terrorist purposes, said Chaplin. "People spreading death and destruction attempt to use religion as a cover for their aims and create completely alternative theological doctrines, justifying
peoples' deaths on religious and ethnic grounds. Even more cynical is the behaviour of those who finance terrorism. Therefore it is traditional religion communities that are called on to resist the ideas of extremism and terrorism", the document reads.

The world summit of religious leaders took place in Baku on the 26th and 27th of April, with more than 250 participants of different faiths from 33 countries
