The flu and acute respiratory infection incidence level in Adygeya has
exceeded the admissible limit by 48.8%, the office of the Federal
Service for Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare in Adygeya
said, RIA Novosti reports.
5,802 cases of acute respiratory infection and 9 cases of flu were
registered in Adygeya in January 2011. A man from Maikop, working in
Krasnodar, had the A/H1N1 virus.
Children aged 7-14 have exceeded the admissible infection incidence by
114%. Then go the 3-6 year-olds, exceeding it by 46%.
Quarantine was introduced in education centers. Studies were fully or
partly stopped in seven schools. Specialists predict higher infection
incidence in near future.
90% of diseases are acute respiratory. They are the most wide-spread
diseases among children and adults.
An average person has acute respiratory infection six years. Russia
registers from 30 to 45 million cases of acute respiratory diseases
and flu annually, 50% of them are children.
Doctors say that the best way to preventing infection is immunization.
It is held annually from September to November. It prevents 70-90% of
children and adults from catching flu.
Vaccination of 60% of a group reduces the disease from spreading three
or four fold. Modern medicine protects from other types of respiratory
infection.
