Date for presidential elections in Kazakhstan scheduled

By decree of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, early presidential
elections in Kazakhstan will take place on the third of April, KazTAG
reports, referring to its source in the presidential administration.

In accordance with the decree the Central Electoral Commission, the
government of Kazakhstan and the governors of the regions, as well as
the cities of Astana and Almaty, were instructed to prepare to
organize early presidential elections.

On January 31 Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev decided not to
hold a referendum on the extension of presidential terms until 2020
and offered to hold early presidential elections instead.
