Power cut in Stavropol Territory and Karachay-Cherkessia

Villages in Stavropol Territory and Karachay-Cherkessia were left
without electricity, caused by heavy wind (up to 30 m/s), followed by
rain and snow, RIA Novosti reports.


The Inter-Regional High-Voltage Grid Company of the North Caucasus
plans to restore energy at 12.00 (Moscow time) on Tuesday.


The power cut occurred in the north-western part of Stavropol
Territory on the night of February 5-6, 2011. Heavy winds and rain
broke four 35 kv, 27 feeders (6-10 kv), 286 transformation points,
resulting in 22 villages left without electricity.


Electricity was partly restored on February 6. Yet, the problems
continued in the south-eastern part of the region, where 14 feeders
(6-10 kv) and 426 transformation points were broken. 15 villages were
left without electricity.


90 people in 29 groups and 17 units of equipment were mobilized.
Heavy winds and snow broke power networks in Karachay-Cherkessia on
February 6-7. Two 35 kv power lines, one 35 kv substation, 28 feeders
(6-10 kv), 341 transformation points were broken. Electricity was
partly cut at Ust-Jagutin, Karachayevsk, Khabezskiy, Prikubansky and
Malokarachayevsk Districts. 16 people in 7 groups with 7 units of
equipment are involved in restoring energy. Power is expected to be
restored later on Monday.
