Armenia is ready to hold active talks on simplifying the visa regime
with the EU. All related state structures will be involved in the
process, Secretary of the Council for National Security Artur
Bagdasaryan said at a seminar, News Armenia reports.
Bagdasaryan said that the initiative will allow businessmen, students
and other social groups to cross the border easier. The official said
that Armenia has deals with 11 EU members that allow officials with
diplomatic and service passports to visit the countries without visas.
The secretary also said that the Armenia-EU cooperation plan for
2009-2011 is being effectively realized and the level of political
cooperation is high.
Bagdasaryan mentioned consistency of reform realization in spheres of
freedom of justice and security as an important achievement of 2010.
Armenian-EU dialogue is developing efficiently, in terms of economic
reforms.
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Karine Kazinyan noted that the
process of simplifying the visa regime has been on the schedule of
bilateral cooperation for a long time. The Eastern Partnership program
sets free movement of citizens and easing the visa regime as an
important component of the partnership.
