The Russian presidential envoy in the North Caucasus Federal District, Alexander Khloponin, said the past year was disastrous in terms of fighting extremism and he will pay special attention to the question of personnel if the most important criminal cases are not solved intime, ITAR-TASS reports.
Among the causes for the activation of clandestine gangs he named, above all, social injustice. According to him, the failures in the system are one of the factors pushing people "into the woods." In addition, he believes that there are criminals and bandits hiding behind the religious slogans. However, Khloponin does not think that the exacerbated situation in the district is connected to high unemployment. "The Caucasus, in this regard, is no worse than any other region of Russia," he said. 88 thousand new jobs were created in the last year, reducing the number of unemployed in the district to 334 thousand. At the same time Khloponin advised the young people of the North Caucasus to be more mobile and to travel to other regions in search of work.
