Armenia to exchange electricity for Iranian gas

Armenia expects a 23% increase in electricity consumption in 2011, the
State Commission for Regulating Public Services said, News.am reports.

The increase is due to a deal signed between Armenia and Iran. Armenia
will provide Iran with 2.4 billion kW per hour. Iran will provide 801
million cubic meters of gas. Iran provides 3 cubic meters of gas for 1
kW/h.

5 energy blocks of the Razdan thermal power plant and the
reconstructed Yerevan thermal power plant are involved in the program.
