The US State Department has warned its citizens about a terrorist threat in Azerbaijan, the official website of the US embassy in Azerbaijan says.
The Israeli Counter-Terrorism Headquarters published a list of 9 countries on February 11, recommending to avoid visiting them. The list includes 3 South Caucasus states. The Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan has halted work today, without clarifying the reasons for this.
The first warning on terrorist threat was seen at the US and UK embassies in Azerbaijan in late January. No comments on sources of information were given.
Professor Fikret Sadykhov, political analyst from the Western University, said that the warning messages are not unique for Azerbaijan or the region. He believes that there is no threat for the US or Israeli citizens. Sadykhov said that information on terrorist threats should be provided for Azerbaijani colleagues, because foreigners are not the only people who may get injured in terrorist attacks.
