Armenia has officially refused to support the Turkish candidate for
secretary general of the OSCE, News Armenia cites the press secretary
of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Tigran Balayan.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul said at the OSCE summit in Astana on
December 1-2, 2010, that the republic has a candidate for chairmanship
of the organization.
Vestnik Kavkaza reported that the special envoy of Gul planned to
arrive in Yerevan to hand a letter to Armenian President Serzh
Sargsyan, requesting support in electing the Turkish candidate. Turkey
had made several requests on the issue before, media say.
