Council of Europe chooses representative to Baku

Konstantinos Gerokostopoulos has been appointed as the special
representative of the secretary general of the Council of Europe to
Azerbaijan, the CE told Trend on Wednesday.


Gerokostopoulos started his diplomatic activities in the Greek Foreign
Ministry. He headed the EU monitoring mission in Yugoslavia in 1994,
in 1995-1998 he was a Greek ambassador to Croatia, in 2000-2004 - to
Italy.


Gerokostopoulos was a special representative of Greece to the CE. In
2008 he was the special representative of the CE secretary general to
Serbia.
