Russia to start S-500s in 2014

Russia's new air defense system, S-500, will be launched into
production in 2014. The system is under development, the commander of
the operative-strategic command of the air and space defense
General-Lieutenant Valery Ivanov said, RIA Novosti reports.

The general said that the S-500 system will provide space defences at
an altitude of 40-50 km.
