Interior Ministry vows to take tough measures on North Caucasus crime

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs will take the utmost measures to eliminate bandits in the North Caucasus,  the head of the ministry, Rashid Nurgaliyev, said, RIA Novosti reports.

"We will do everything possible to ensure that terrorism and extremism do not exist on our soil," Nurgaliyev said, speaking in Stavropol at the funeral service for the police officers killed on Tuesday in a shoot-out with militants on the border of the Stavropol Territory and Karachay-Cherkessia. According to Nurgaliyev, "the bandits who kill people, terrorists and extremists, do not have a human face, or nationality, or religious identity. They are non-humans." He promised that none of the perpetrators will escape their deserved punishment.

Nurgaliyev also said that the Interior Ministry would not leave the families of the deceased police officers without care and attention.
