US State Secretary Hillary Clinton and Georgian Minister of Foreign
Affairs Grigol Vashadze have discussed Georgian membership in NATO in
Washington, the Georgian minister said, Trend reports.
The sides had a one hour closed-door meeting with the presence of the
US Assistant Secretary Philip Gordon and the Georgian Ambassador to
the USA Temur Yakobashvili.
Vashadze said that it is a "great privilege" for Georgia to be a
strategic partner of the USA. The Georgian minister and the US
officials discussed stability and security in the South Caucasus,
actions of the Russian forces on the occupied territories, actions of
the military in Afghanistan and bilateral cooperation.
Vashadze emphasized that they talked on the schedule of high-profile
meetings without giving details.
