South Ossetia and Georgia will exchange prisoners in the village of
Ergneti, RIA Novosti cites Vyacheslav Sedov, head of the press-service
of the president and government of South Ossetia.
South Ossetia will extradite seven people for seven from Georgia,
including Yuri Khachirov, father of Alan Khachirov, who was missing
after the war in August 2008, authorized presidential envoy the South
Ossetia for post-conflict settlement Boris Chochiyev said.
The exchange process will be monitored by officials from South
Ossetia, Russia and Georgia.
The sides agreed on exchanging prisoners at a trilateral meeting
within the framework of the mechanisms on prevention and reaction on
February 17.
The mechanisms were established on the fourth round of discussions in
Geneva on security in the Trans-Caucasus in February 2009.
The discussions in Geneva have been held since October 2008, based on
the agreements after the war in South Ossetia in August 2008.
Abkhazia, Georgia, Russia, USA, South Ossetia and officials from the
EU, UN and OSCE are taking part in the talks.
