Earlier in February, the Turkish police arrested former deputy chief of the General Staff of the armed forces, Ergin Saygun, and former army General Cetin Dogan, reports Trend.
According to the government newspaper Taraf, the Turkish officers prepared a special plan entitled 'Balyoz', in which the current government, headed by the Justice and Development Party, would be overthrown as a result of explosions in Istanbul mosques during Friday prayers, an explosion at the military museum and several fighter aircrafts of the Turkish Air Force. Such actions, responsibility for which would be laid on Greece, would lead to chaos in the country and mass arrests, the newspaper said.
According to the publication, an ex-general in the Turkish Armed Forces, Cetin Dogan, participated in preparations for a coup d'etat in 2002-2003.
