US deputy secretary of state concludes visit to South Caucasus

US Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg has concluded his visit in Azerbaijan, APA reports.


Steinberg will head to Bosnia.


Steinberg met Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and public figures. They talked about bilateral cooperation and regional security. The Nagorno-Karabakh peace process was also discussed.
Steinberg said on his arrival at the airport that the USA places a high rating on its ties with Azerbaijan. The two countries have a strategic partnership. The USA supports the Azerbaijani contribution to the peace process in Afghanistan within the framework of NATO efforts.


Before visiting Azerbaijan, the US official visited Armenia and Georgia.
