Armenian Justice Minister Grayr Tovmasyan made an unannounced visit to the territorial Civil Registry Office of the Yerevan communities of Kentron and Nork-Marash at 9.00-9.30 am today. The office was closed, although its schedule says it opens at 9.00 am, News Armenia cites the ministry.
According to the law, the work of Civil Registry Offices is organized by the head of the community it is located in. The structure is controlled by the Justice Ministry.
Tovmasyan filed a letter to Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan with demands to punish the office supervisors.
At his first press conference on January 17, Tovmasyan said that the ministry will carry out regular visits of various structures of the system without warning. The minister himself visited several notary offices in Yerevan on January 24.
