Armenian National Congress to meet in Yerevan

The Armenian National Congress will meet at the museum of Matenadaran in the center of Yerevan today at 17.00. The meeting marks the tragic events in March 2008. Levon Ter-Petrosyan, leader of the congress and the first president of Armenia, will make a speech at the meeting, Armenia Today reports.


Roads from Armenian regions were closed. The police are inviting citizens to police stations where they recommend them to avoid visiting the meeting. Zhamanak paper says that students from regions studying in Yerevan were recommended to avoid visiting lessons due to the closed roads.


Armenian opposition held peaceful actions after the presidential elections in 2008. They turned into clashes with police officers on March 1-2. 10 people died, over 200 were injured, over 100 were arrested.
