The President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, arrived in Baku last night, at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.
Minnikhanov visited the Honorary Tomb and the Alley of Sheikhs.
The president of Tatarstan will have talks with Aliyev, Speaker of Parliament Ogtay Asadov, Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, Emergencies Minister Kyamalyaddin Heydarov. Minnikhanov will observe the Heydar Aliyev Fund and meet thee Tatar community.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan and Russia are successfully developing ties in various spheres. He expressed hope that they will determine new spheres of cooperation with Minnikhanov.
Minnikhanov expressed satisfaction with the visit and the meeting with Aliyev. He said good ties with the former President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaymiyev and the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev are a good basis for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tatarstan.
