The goal of Russia is freedom for all, and the government is an instrument, not a goal of development, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said at a science conference entitled “Great reforms and modernization of Russia”.
Thus, Medvedev returned to his famous slogan “freedom is better than no freedom” he announced in Davos in 2007.
At the conference Medvedev said that he disagrees with people believing in the Bolsheviks coming to power as a result of Alexander II’s reforms and the emancipation of serfs. He condemned the position of Nikolai II and Stalin.
Medvedev said that he signed a decree on marking the 1,150th anniversary of Russian statehood.
