Baku has hosted a meeting of the Russian and Azerbaijani representatives on the issue of the legal status of Russian citizens living in the village of Hrah-Uba in the Khachmaz district of Azerbaijan, APA reports, quoting the Embassy of Russia in Azerbaijan.
The participants in the meeting unanimously stressed that resolution of the problem should comply with the legislation of the Azerbaijani Republic, the friendly character of Russian-Azerbaijani relations, on the basis of international law and respect for the territorial integrity of the parties, as well as the humanitarian situation in which Russian citizens are living in Hrah-Uba.
Legalization of the residency of the residents of Hrah-Uba under Azerbaijani citizenship and immigration legislation and a state program of support for their voluntary or individual resettlement to Russia, were proposed as solutions to the problem.
