The Georgian Foreign Ministry commented on reports issued by the US State Department, which referred to the fact that the simplified visa regime with Iran might affect the import of narcotics to Georgia, Trend reports.
The State Department report says that in 2010 Georgia issued an agreement with Iran on a simplified visa regime. Since 40 percent of Afghan opium is transited via Iran, an increase in drug trafficking through Georgia is possible.
The document also notes that the system of drug-trafficking control in Georgia is in need of reform.
