Yerevan City Council has not allowed the opposition Armenian National Movement party the right to conduct a rally on Freedom Square on March 17, but will host cultural activities in the vicinity from March 15 to April 15, News-Armenia reports.Liberty Square has been a venue for mass political demonstrations since 1988. After the tragic events of the 1st of March 2008, which were followed by bloody riots, Yerevan City Hall has been banning radical opposition rallies in Liberty Square.
