The former president of Georgia, Eduard Shevardnadze, has spoken about the necessity of improving Russian language learning.
“Russia is our neighbour, it is important to learn Russian,” he said. “I would make a decision to improve the study of the Russian language and invite teachers from Russia. When I was young it was necessary to learn Russian. To be an educated person, you should read Russian classic literature,” he said.
