The Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Safar Abiyev, left today for Brussels to attend a meeting of defense ministers of countries that have contributed to the coalition of the North Atlantic Council, which meets at the invitation of the Secretary General of NATO, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan.
Cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO began with the signing of the 'Partnership for Peace' framework document on 4 May 1994. Azerbaijan was one of 27 OSCE member-states that first joined this program.
