US supports Russian accession to WTO and establishment of a joint missile defense system

Both Russia and the US will benefit from Russia's accession to the World Trade Organisation and the abolition of the Jackson-Vanik amendment, US Vice President Joseph Biden told a meeting at MSU.

"The president (Barack Obama) and I strongly support Russia's accession to the WTO. This will help Russia to strengthen its economic relations with the US and the world,” Biden said.
According to him, "it is in the interests of Americans and Russians, it is necessary that we trade, using transparent and open rules.” "That's why we work together to Jackson-Vanik Amendment was repealed, it is an important element in the trade agenda of our administration," Biden said.

He noted that earlier the United States and Russia had a number of disagreements on agricultural issues, but the countries have been able to overcome them.

Joseph Biden also supports the establishment of cooperation with Russia on the missile defense system, which, according to him, will help to dissuade other nations to become nuclear powers.
