President of Azerbaijan holds meeting on development of Baku

The Executive authorities of Baku City, chaired by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, held a meeting on the socio-economic development of the country's capital and suburban towns yesterday, the official website of the President says.

Aliyev stressed the importance of the development of urban infrastructure, in particular the roads, bridges, tunnels and transport system.

He expressed confidence that, as a result of the commissioning of the Oguz-Gabala-Baku pipeline, the water supply of Baku will improve dramatically in the near future. "The pipeline will soon operate at full capacity, and 70 percent of the population of our city will be provided with quality drinking water and a stable water supply, but we need to take additional measures to ensure the availability of drinking water for the rest of our city,” Aliyev said.

The president also mentioned the importance of ecological problems and the development of suburban areas.
