Gaddafi will not storm Benghazi

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi believes that confrontation between the authorities and the opposition will end in the near future and there is no need to storm Benghazi, RIA Novosti reports.

Gaddafi made his announcement in an interview with RT (Rusia Al-Yaum) in Arabic.

The protests in Libya started on February 15. Protesters demand the resignation of Gaddafi, who has been in power for over 40 years. The country split into the west, controlled by Gaddafi, and the east, controlled by the opposition. Libyan aviation is bombing the protesters.

Gaddafi has taken control over Ra’s Lanuf and Marsa Brega. His forces have reached Benghazi, the main rebel center, where opposition National Council is located.

Gaddafi’s son, Seif al-Islam, said in an interview with Euronews that the rebels will be dealt with in 48 hours.
