Georgian president meets US congressmen

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has had a meeting at the US Congress, Georgia Online reports.


He met the US congressman Jim Shahin, who supervises the subcommittee of the Congress for relations with Eastern Europe.


Shahin is the author of the resolution on recognition of Russia’s occupation of part of Georgia. The resolution will be under discussion in the near future.


Saakashvili met Senator Joe Lieberman, a supporter of Georgia and its interests in Congress.
The Georgian president had a closed-door meeting with a group of US senators.
