Azerbaijan has transferred an Armenian citizen, Artur Badalyan, in the Agdam District at 14.00. Armenia transferred Anar Gajiyev in exchange, Trend reports.
An Azerbaijani junior sergeant, Roman Huseynov, was captured by Armenia on August 27, 2010. Junior sergeant Anar Gajiyev was captured on May 10, 2009.
Azerbaijan transferred three Armenian prisoners to a third country at their own request.
Azerbaijan is currently holding three servicemen and five civilians (members of a family).
Astrakhan hosted a trilateral meeting between the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia – Ilham Aliyev, Dmitry Medvedev and Serzh Sargsyan – on October 27, 2010. They signed a joint declaration, in which exchanging prisoners of war and bodies of killed servicemen was noted as the first step towards improving ties, supported by the OSCE Minsk Group and the International Red Cross Committee.
