The Russian Navy will receive up to 10 Severodvinsk advanced fourth-generation atomic submarines by 2020, RIA Novosti cites a high-ranking spokesman of the naval headquarters.
The Sevmash shipbuilding factory is constructing the second submarine, Kazan. Construction of the third one will start in late 2011.
Russia will mark the 105th anniversary of Russian submarines.
The spokesman said that the subs will have a unified complex to fire almost any types of cruise missiles, from Onix to Kalibra. The missiles may hit targets at a range of 2,500 km.
The subs have a water disposal of 8,600/13,800 tons. Their proportions are 119x13, 5x9.4 meters. They may operate at a max depth of 600 meters and travel at a speed of 16/31 knots. Crews will consist of 90 people (32 officers).
