The Libyan authorities claim that their decision on the unilateral cessation of hostilities against the insurgents has already been implemented. Turkey and Malta were invited to oversee this process.
This was stated by the official representative of the Libyan Government, Musa Ibrahim, Reuters reports.
Earlier on Friday, Libyan Foreign Minister Musa Kusa said that the authorities have decided to cease all military actions against the rebels, in response to the UN Security Council resolution providing for the possibility of military action against the regime of Muammar Gaddafi.At least 25 people, including several children, were killed on Friday as a result of massive shelling of the town of Misrata by Gaddafi's forces.
